Bluetooth and Wi-Fi devices send weak, short signals. Many basic RF scanners miss them. The Protect 1206i is built to catch them, and it recognizes the signal type, so you know if you are looking at GSM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or DECT.
It also finds standard bugs, including FM and digital transmitters. A correlation feature lets you confirm an FM transmitter by sound.
Two antennas are included. The wide-band rod covers 50 MHz to 12 GHz. The directional micro-pointer antenna boosts range above 2 GHz and helps you pinpoint the source.
Start with a general sweep using the rod antenna. When the bars rise, switch to the micro-pointer and turn slowly to find the direction of the strongest signal. A 16-segment bar graph, an attenuator and four alert modes make it easy to zero in. It runs up to 20 hours on two AAA batteries in a metal body.
